Il rugby è introdotto al centro di detenzione giovanile come attività speciale per lo sviluppo mentale e fisico dei detenuti. Il protagonista Nika si trova di fronte al dilemma di sacrificare la sua autorità tra i prigionieri in favore del sentimento di libertà personale. La storia drammatica di Negative Numbers include problemi sociali e morali, che esistono nella moderna società post-sovietica. Il sistema criminale è stato lo stile di vita per anni e la mentalità di questa società. Molte persone sono state vittime di questo sistema, soprattutto adolescenti, che cercano di comportarsi da adulti e non si rendono conto di essere diventati parte di un sistema crudele e violento. La nostra società cerca di isolarsi da questi giovani “negativi” e li spinge a commettere nuovi crimini.

Rugby is introduced at juvenile detention centre as special activity for mental and physical development of inmates. The lead character Nika is faced by a dilemma to sacrifice his authority among the prisoners in favour for the feeling of personal freedom.
The dramatic story of Negative Numbers includes social and moral problems, which exist in modern post-soviet society. The criminal system, which has been the established lifestyle for years, as well as it’s mentality. A lot of people have been victims of this system, especially adolescents, who try to act like adults and do not realize that they have become part of a cruel and violent system. Our society tries to isolate themselves from these “negative” youngsters and thus pushes them towards committing new crimes.

Miglior Film di Finzione per la giuria: Negative Numbers. Per aver saputo raccontare attentamente e profondamente i problemi sociali e morali ancora presenti nella moderna società post – sovietica. Una storia non banale, che si sviluppa con profonda empatia e potenza.
